27 January 2009

NIGERIAN TRIBUNE (IBADAN, NIGERIA)— Edet Uwak, a nuclear physicist and professor at the Univerisity of Calabar in Nigeria, said the country has begun the process of building nuclear power plants, with nuclear power available as early as 2017. Uwak said there were huge uranium deposits in the country, which is essential for a sustained nuclear power capability. He urged the federal government of Nigeria to provide an environment conducive for the development of nuclear power in order for Nigeria to join with other nations using nuclear power as a source of energy.
